Survivor Auto's Story
My name is Brett Wassell

I am a part of the baby boomer generation and have had many jobs in my life. Some of those have helped me find what I like, while other jobs were not so much fun. From them all I learned there are lessons and experience to be gained, and from those jobs/lessons I realized where my gifts and passions are.
Over the years I have always had cars that I had to work on to keep running to get to my real job. Most of the time I was between a shade tree mechanic and a shop DIY person. Having not officially worked at a shop, I had friends and family help me. My father taught me so much about how to make the car work, to make it run and drive.
When I got older and started working more in a desk job I began to miss getting my hands dirty and playing with the cars. I started getting some classic cars, then searching and hunting for parts and making them mine. This was the fun I had missed, and became what I could do as a stress reliever.
As I got and worked on more cars, I found that the people that saw what we were doing wanted work done on their vehicles too. The first question I would ask was "Are you keeping it or going to sell it?".
Selling the cars themselves is less fun for me - since the joy is in working on the car - so I brought in someone that could manage the shop for me. I still like to build and play with my cars and thanks to the sources and contacts I have made, and experience I have had over the years led to me restoring some beautiful cars.
Survivor Auto Texas has moved beyond my side hobby, and I am working to sell finished project vehicles. As we move forward we wanted to clarify our staging process for customers to be able to see the vision going forward.
Stage 1: Finding a car to build, buy it and bring it in
Stage 2: Make it run and drive, not pretty (yet) but fun to drive
Stage 3: Do metal and functional interior like wipers and headlights and seats that can be comfortable
Stage 4: Interior, professionally done
Stage 5: Body work and primer, body men repairing and metal work and prep for paint
Stage 6: Picking vehicle color, paint and finish
As the company and crew grow, processes are sure to change. But as the company name "Survivor Auto" indicates our main endeavor is taking a car that is not running or driving and build it from ground up, whether that car ends up being just a driver, or finished and flawless.
This is our goal, to make peoples dreams come true with a car they can enjoy at whatever stage they want it done to. We want to build a car the customer can enjoy throughout the build process. We want to make it run so you can drive it and enjoy it through the stages. If you wanted to take time to save money to do more, we will quote in a way to bill and charge as we go along.
The plan for the shop is to stay responsive and personal and be able to make our customers' dreams a reality. Since this company started as my hobby it is more for my fun than to make a my living from it. The people that work for me are friends and they enjoy making the projects come together.
